I moved somewhere with a smaller bathroom to house a litter box for two cats, so suddenly my choice of cat litter became a lot more important. I tried several kinds and most of them sucked, but I finally settled on one that I’ve bought several boxes of now and it’s just fine. In order of when I tried them:

Pretty Litter

Pretty Litter with example colors

$22.00 for 1 bag on 2021-09-26

  • Doesn’t cover the smell
  • Doesn’t clump
  • Tracks everywhere

I can’t speak to its claimed ability to diagnose your cat with kidney failure, but I can say it’s not a good all-around full-time litter. I did take advantage of their refund guarantee because it lasted only a couple days before it was toast, but it is supposed to last much longer. Though, honestly, I’m not sure how much longer I could’ve put up with it.

World’s Best Original Series Unscented Multi Corn

Bag of World's Best Original Series Unscented Multi Corn

$26.99 for 28 pounds on 2021-10-29

  • Smells pretty bad on its own
  • Doesn’t clump very well

Don’t buy it if you have a working nose.

$18.00 for 40 pounds on 2021-12-08 $10.99 for 20 pounds on 2022-02-16
  • Dusty
  • Clean litter smells bad on its own
  • Tracks easily

I don’t really notice a difference between these. They both work, but not very well.

Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal AbsorbX

Box of Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal AbsorbX

$19.99 for 15 pounds on 2022-03-16

  • Dusty
  • So dusty
  • Like, really dusty
  • Tracks everywhere, every time
  • Absorbs ambient moisture and gets sticky eveywhere it’s been tracked

Wear a mask when you pour it into the litter box and when you scoop it or you’ll inhale a ton of dust, which smells and tastes terrible. Also wear a mask in public because (at the time of writing) we’re still in a worldwide pandemic.

Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal “Ultra Odor Blasters”

Box of Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Ultra Odor Blasters

$15.99 for 19 pounds on 2022-04-08

  • Minimal tracking
  • Slight scent of its own, but it’s not a bad one
  • Clumps tightly
  • Covers smell pretty well

After several boxes over the course of several months, this is the one I’m sticking with for now. The tracking is manageable and stays near the litter box, unlike others that ended up in other rooms. I don’t notice any smell until it’s time to scoop, and when I do that, the clumps stay together very well.
